Hello all,
Hope you are enjoying summer and a nice break from football. If you have any sense you have been watching The Ashes which promises to become more exciting as the weeks go on. Greetings to Davey and Karin who are holidaying in Canada. The Irish tour seems to have been pretty disappointing. But heh, it appears that RK is slowly but surely employing the whole of Ireland. It is difficult not to be negative here. I haven`t seen much of a cheque book being opened. Todays news of a Cork City player wanted by bloody Hartlepool doesnt do much to excite me. If this continues and results don`t materialise I, like many I believe will feel that RK is only in this for himself and his pals. Of course he has the job for his own benefits - salary/ future prospects etc, but ITFC may have to live with his actions for a long time. I sincerely hope that RK makes me eat my words. Nothing would make me more happy than for him to be succesful with ITFC. But at the moment I just can`t see it happening.

On a more cheery note, I can announce that our AGM will be held on Thursday August 6th 2009 at Pickie Bowling Club, Bangor at 8pm sharp. Details of adgenda will be posted shortly. If there is any item that you would like to be included, please get in touch as soon as possible.

Cork defeat

Oh dear, a second defeat on Irish soil. Doesn`t bode well. I know the results mean bugger all, but still shouldn`t we beating these teams, friendly or not? I suppose it won`t mean a thing if we give Coventry a hiding in a few weeks time.

A wet evening in Co Donegal

Overall a dissapointing evening for all Town fans in Ballybofey. I travelled with Rod, Callum and Alex from Carrickfergus during the afternoon and picked up Jon Craig on route. After a minor argument with MR Satnav we made it to Strabane with a few minutes to spare. We had to collect tickets from a friendly Notts Forest supporter from his sports store in the town. The 10 minute journey to Ballybofey took us half an hour. I think these locals have serious issues judging distance. Either that or they drive like maniacs. It was plain to see that EU funding for the roads in Donegal had failed to make much of an impact.

After a short trip the wrong way up a one way street, we parked up at Heeneys bar and had refreshments. We then dandered to McKelveys where we met up some Town friends. Clive, Anga, Chris and Steve from Suffolk, Bert from Cookstown and Alan from Co Meath.

Sure enough as we headed to the ground the rain started. I estimate a crowd of around 1000 and a splattering of Town fans from England, NI and Ireland. Two ITFC banners were on display - Spirit of 78 and ITFC Northern Ireland.

Town played in red and Finn Harps in blue. The Town line up was strong with Stead playing on his own up front. To be honest the game was crap. I wont go into all the gory details but I felt Delaney and Wickham played reasonably well. We definately have some fitness issues and maybe that is to be expected. I know when I go back to work after a holiday I am expeceted to be at 100%, lets just hope that is what we get come Coventry.

Finn Harps were a very young side in the middle of their season. They well deserved the victory and their second goal, a breakaway was well executed even though the final shot took a deflection off Shumi(?).

Keane was mobbed at the end of the game and the Town side didn`t warm down. Maybe they were too embarrassed.

We headed home around 10 and were back in Carrick shortly after midnight.

Finn Harps

We leave Carrickfergus around 2-45pm on Tuesday evening and head to Ballybofey for the Finn Harps friendly. Hopefully Town will have made another signing by then. I have 1 space in the car if anyone is interested. Match tickets are €15 and we should be home shortly after midnight.

Anyone making there own way please be advised that we are meeting up in McKelveys Bar, Ballybofey about 5-45pm.

Sunderland supporters pub quiz

Another good night was had at the Sunderland supporters club pub quiz at the Bot on monday night. Myself, Lynda Davy & Karin were joined later by Chris. Unfortunately Wayne's babysitter let him down but hopefully it'll not be too long before he'll be bringing young Evan with him...only joking Claire....We didn't come first but we didn't disgrace ourselves either, finishing 4th in the 'Championship'...I can't remember how many teams were there but there were a few below us...Man City won the 'Premier League' (There's something you may only hear once lol). Hopefully see everyone at the next meeting or the Morning Star night, whichever comes first.....

The NI Sunderland supporters quiz will be held on Monday 11th May, once again at the Bot. It is unlikely that I can get off work that night but would like us to enter a team if poss. I could be over for shortly after 9pm. Please let me know asap if you can make it.

I would like to hold one more meeting before the proposed dinner. I suggest Tuesday 19th May at Derriaghy Cricket Club at 8pm. Graham/John could you get in touch to confirm that this would be possible and then I will confirm to all members.

At this meeting we will finalise all branch business for the year, complete plans for the meal and with any luck we know a little about pre season plans.

What a week

Well what can you say. Who would have guessed Town would get 3 pages in most pages by the end of the week. My personal feelings are that JM had come to the end of the road. I cant doubt his loyalty to the club nor his wishes for success. But that didnt make him a manager - not yet anyway. After 3 years and no improvement the timimg is perfect for a change. I wish him well in the future.

RK- well it`s taken me the total of 24 hours to realise that what he will bring to the Club is something to be excited about. I am well aware that he probably doesnt have much love for our team, but I sincerely believe that he will do a job for us.

I look forward to hearing of branches opening up in Dublin, Galway and of course Cork.

I wonder is there any chance of ITFC making it to these shores again this summer.

Looking forward.....I see we are installed as favourites to win the championship already! Wonder what Newcastle fans think of that?

Budgie weekend

What a great weekend. Just a shame that its back to porridge today. I think everything went swimmingly and the team certainly put on a show against the budgies. It was grand to meet up with some old friends and make some new ones. We met fans from Norway and Sweden and will be keeping in touch. I will get some photos up as soon as possible. See you soon.

I am hoping Sundays game is as thrilling as the Chelsea Liverpool tonight.
Somehow I doubt it though. I dont have a good feeling about the game. Me is thinkin JMs last derby game.

The NI branch of the Sunderland FC supporters club have been in touch once again. Their annual quiz is taking place on May 11th at The Bot. I hope we can enter at least 1 team. I can`t stomach the shit that was last night at feeble fortress Portman Road. I sincerely hope the players are disgusted with themselves. Of course they will tell us how dissappointed they are and how sorry they feel for the fans. If we all put tha amount of effort into our jobs and businesses the country would be buried, never mind in a bloody recession. Message to Jim - take their bloody wages off them. I understand we cant be great all the time but lack of effort and pride is inexcusable.

Hi guys,
I am pleased to announce that Davey D, Callum and I have booked for the Norwich weekender in April. We depart Belfast City on Saturday 18th at 1340 and return from Stansted on 19th at 2010. We will book accomadation with the rest of the gang at the Novotel, Ipswich.
Our next meeting will take place at the Joymount Arms, Carrickfergus on Wednesday 18th March at 8pm. Bob has managed to get details on the Morning Star for the end of season bash. We will discuss this and plans for the weekender. Hope to see you there.
On another note, Bertie has just returned from Preston where he saw the 3-2 defeat.

Great win at Loftus Road

I really enjoyed Towns win in London last night. I didnt expect much especially as it was on Sky. Our last two live games have been awful. Lots of positives after the poor start. I thought Thatchers attempts to tackle for their goal was pathetice but after that I thought he was pretty solid. Lots of good performances all over the park. We see to have gained a spark of enthusiasm which has been missing recently. Now would be a good time to keep up the effort and make a push towards the end of the season.

It is with great sadness that I send the attached note which was today sent to members of the London Branch. "Before I launch into the usual round-up of news and matchday info, we have a sad message for all branch members. [Tim Edwards writes] I am sorry to have to tell you that our branch vice-chair, Ashley Cushion, died yesterday, in hospital, just a couple of months after being diagnosed with cancer. His death is both a huge loss and a massive shock to all of us in the branch. We had been hoping for, I guess expecting, a strong fightback, in his trademark robust and cheerful way. I count myself as privileged to have known Ashley in recent years, and it will simply be impossible to fill the gap that he leaves in my life, and that of many others. When our shock wears off, we will begin to realise all the ways that we miss him. We are in touch with his wife Marianne, who many of you will recall came to our recent AGM with him"Ashley was a very close friend of mine and I can't imagine football with out him, especially away games where he was always there for me. He was very active with the Supporters Forum and the Academy. Most recently he was heavily involved with the fund raising at the London Branch AGM and he also donated a signed shirt to the main Supporters club AGM which raised £100 which will be donated to the academy.He was looking forward to getting involved in the organisation of the Player Awards evening and had many ideas to share with us all. He will be missed by all that knew him. Our thoughts are with his wife Marianne and his family at this sad time. Liz

NEW signing Luciano Civelli last night admitted he was woefully short of match fitness and is unlikely to be included in the side to play Plymouth.Although John Gorman, in the absence of Jim Magilton at the press conference to unveil the Argentinean, said they would leave it until late, Civelli may have to wait to make his Ipswich Town debut.Civelli said: “I have not played a game for six or seven weeks. I started pre-season on January 5 but I have not been allowed to do any ball work while the negotiations were going on.“I have trained with my new team-mates for the first time and I enjoyed it.” The 22-year-old completed his move from Sporting Club Banfield in a deal that cost Town an initial £900,000 but could rise to £2m with add-ons.While the Blues own 100 per cent of his playing registration, his former club are entitled to half of any sell on fee, although Ipswich can buy out that clause in the future.An admirer of Liverpool's Dutch forward Ryan Babell, the left-footed player who started as a defender and can play up front favours playing wide left in a solid 4-4-2 formation and is comfortable taking on defenders and going past them on the outside before crossing.The 6'1'' player is nicknamed Lucho, which translates as 'It fights' and believes the English football is similar to what he is sued to in Argentina.With brother Renato playing for French club Marseille and a close friend playing in Holland, Civelli was keen to play in Europe.He said: “It has been by dream to play in Europe. January meeting

Hope you have all recovered from your Christmas and New Year celebrations. I think I have put on a stone! Ah well.

The winning time for the Doncaster golden goal was 42.
Undoubtedly a dissappointing result for all Town fans and especially for our members that made the trip from Belfast to South Yorkshire. I don`t think we ever looked good enough against a team that hadnt scored at home since August. We did have a couple of good chances but failed to get them on target. Sullivan in goal for the yorkshiremen had a quiet evening. I look forward to any of the guys who have just got home leaving a report of the weekend on this site. Thanks.

Hi all,

Just off the boat from my hols. We had a brilliant time and made it to Portman Road last weekend. We attended the All branch AGM and met up with Clive and Anga` before the game. The weather was superb and I am still nursing self inflicted sunburn. Thanks to those who have sent me photos. I am sure there are more so please get them to me so that I can publish them.

Glentoran Fun day

Good afternoon everyone,

Hot off the press. I have been promised a suite at the Oval and this has been agreed with the Paul Leeman Testimonial Committee.

Unfortunately we will have to cap numbers as there are a number of functions taking place that afternoon. The maximum numbers that we can invite are 50 and only those who inform me by Friday evening will get into the suite.

We have been promised a quick visit from JM and some Town players and also Paul Leeman and possibly other members of the Glentoran squad. Jim is donating a signed Town shirt and Glentoran expect to donate a match worn shirt from the game. We also have a couple of signed items from Town legend Kevin Beattie. We will hold a quick ballot for these and other items after the game.

As you will see, Glentoran are holding a family fun day that afternoon and as such I would reccomend that we take up use of the suite around 12-30. I will announce the name of the suite later this week.

This was an easy win for Town and a great start to the 3 match trip to NI.
It seemed that around 200 fans turned up from the Blue Army, including members of the Casement and Supple families.
Town were 3 up at the break with goals from Roberts, Haynes and Lee. Ben Thatcher started on trial.
Rhodes won himself a penalty but failed to deliver after a weak low shot was well saved by the Reds keeper diving to his left.
JM fielded 9 different players in the second half who went one better, scoring 4 . Alan Quinn netted twice and Wright and Peters both chipped in with one each.
Couldnt help giggling with Nick when we realised that Peters and Lee had scored in the second half! I didnt know they could play football.
Jonathon Walters sat out the game but will be training again tommorrow and expects to play a part later this week.
Cliftonville had a poor game, maybe they are thinking ahead to their UEFA game against Copenhagen later this week.
Callum and I chatted with Seamus and family after the game and we managed to get plenty of autographs and some great photos which I hope to publish next week.
All in all a great evening and we are looking forward to the rest of the week.

Hi guys,

With only a few days left until the first game of the NI tour, I wish all visiting fans a safe journey over. We have decided to meet up in The Botanic Inn, Malone Road, Belfast before each game. Feel free to wear club colours, although be advised that most other city centre establishments will not allow the wearing of football shirts.
As a branch we would also suggest that visiting fans certainly make the most of hospitality inside Solitude,where we hope to be made welcome. However there are not any suitable bars close to the stadium so we plan on heading back to The Botanic after the game. We also advise Town fans not to walk from the city to/from the game. Taxis into the centre will cost around a fiver and are readily available. Taxi numbers are 02890333333 and 02890809080.

Arrangements for the game at Donegal Celtic will be similar. I have been told that the hospitality will be second to none and am looking forward to it.

The game on Saturday afternoon at Glentoran is to support Paul Leemans testimonial. Plans are not quite completed for this match. I am hoping to get a suite arranged and a few other bits and bobs. Watch this space.

Pre July plans

Hi everyone,

Thanks for a good turnout tonight. At £1-50 a pint we may be back in the near future. We all agreed that the upcoming 3 games that Town will play in Belfast give us a great opportunity to recruit members and also to show some good NI hospitality to visiting supporters.

We have decided that we will advertise a meeting place in the city for all Town fans before each game. Almost all city centre bars will not allow any football shirts or insignia. However, The Botanic Inn, on Malone Road is an exception, and that is where will make our pre match base.

We therefore invite Town fans to meet up here from 6pm before each evening game and at 1pm for the Saturday game against "The Glens".

We reckon the best option for getting to each ground from "The Bot" will be private taxis, which can be ordered from the bar. The approx cost to each stadium will be about £6 per car.

We have decided to design a "Belfast 2008, Tractor Boys on Tour" tee shirt and have them printed before the games. We will only produce a limited amount, which be made available for sale at each game. NI branch members will all be wearing them for the visit to Cliftonville. We will accept pre orders from visiting fans by email to club secretary. Cost TBA.

We have been in touch with ITFC regarding catching up with players, management during the visit. We are waiting on a response.

ITSC NI will meet again early in July to finalise plans. Date TBA. The location will be The Bot.

We have heard from both DC and Glentoran and have been assured of a warm welcome.

Town have added games against Cliftonville and Donegal Celtic to their Northern Irish trip in July. Earlier in the week Glentoran revealed that the Blues would be at the Oval in Belfast on July 19th.
That game has been confirmed as a 3pm kick-off, while Town will be at Cliftonville's Solitude ground on July 14th (KO 7.45pm) and Donegal Celtic's Donegal Celtic Park on July 17th (KO 7.45pm).

We had an enjoyable night last night, courtesy of the NI Sunderland FC supporters. It was their annual quiz night and over £900 was handed over to The Neo Natal Care Unit RVH. Those who attended from our branch were John, Nick, Wayne, Claire and myself. We did well in the first half and were placed in the premiership for the second half. We all went home with T shirts, baseball caps and table cloths. There were teams from Man City, Leeds, Everton, Villa, Burnley, Middlesborough, Man Utd and Sunderland.

Welcome; Chris welcomed members to the meeting. We were informed that Nick had recently paid a visit to the hospital with a dodgy knee. We wish him a speedy recovery. David Doherty acted up as treasurer for the evening.
We kept one eye on Sky and were thrilled to see Town had managed a second away win at Palace. Strange goal, but we will take anything.

Finance; David advised members of the current balance £694-67 of which £176 is savings. This was agreed by all present as correct.

Blackpool weekender; 7 branch members made the trip to Blackpool and all made it back in one piece. We discussed car park tickets, car keys, wigs, beautiful hotels, hurricanes, disco dancing, opening car boots and corporate lawyers. Special thanks to Barbara Junk for help with the boat.
We joined the NoE branch AGM and met and chatted with legend Kevin Beattie.
We also met members of other Town supporters branches and enjoyed their hospitality.

Golden Goal; One set of golden goal tickets was issued to those at the meeting. No tickets will be posted out for this competition. The match for this issue will be the Carling Cup Final between Chelsea and Spurs on February 24th. Money will be collected at the next meeting.

A blog site has been set up and by now all members should have received an invite to create blog. You will need to register with Google to do this but it is very straightforward and free of charge. If your invitation has expired please ask me to resend it. The site address is;

Town vs Norwich 12th April

We discussed the pilgrimage to Portman Road scheduled for April.
Three members have already booked flight tickets. I suggest 2 options for branch members wishing to head over to the local derby.

Option 1 (2 nights)

Depart George Best Belfast City Airport Friday 11th April Ryanair flight 6126 to Stansted at 15-10. (currently £35 approx pp return).

Hire car for transfer to Ipswich.(approx £10-£15pp)

2 nights accommodation at the Novotel, Ipswich. ( approx £20 -£25 pppn)

Depart Stansted Sunday 13th April Ryanair flight 6129 to GB Belfast City Airport at 20-10.)

Approx total cost including match tickets £130.

Option 2 (1 night).

As above, except departure will be Saturday 12th April on Ryanair flight 6122 to Stansted at 06-30. (currently £30-47 pp return).

Hire car as above, maybe a little cheaper.

1 night accommodation as above.

Return flight as above.

Approx total cost including match tickets £ 100.

These costs are not exact. However I will do my best to keep costs down and hope that if members book flights early enough they should not exceed what I have quoted. Graham is investigating tickets. If successful, this will of course bring the cost down.

I intend on going on option 2 with Callum and maybe Debbie. Davey Doc and Karin have also shown an interest in this option. Wayne is hoping to take Clare with him on option 1.

Remember those of you who have been selling golden goal will be entitled to funds that will assist you financing the trip.

I encourage as many members, families and visitors to join us for this weekend. As usual for a local derby the atmosphere will be electric and with luck be massively important for our promotion push.

Meeting at The Halfway House, Dromore, Wednesday 29th April (Champions League semi final). This was a great evening last year. We enjoyed a great meal and of course Seamus was a great host. The meal was heavily subsidised by the branch. It is hoped that we may be able to do the same again this year. To encourage attendance, subsidy towards the cost of the meal will only be paid towards paid up members who attend the next meeting in Carrickfergus.

I was listening to the news on 5 live this week when I heard a broadcast from the White House in Washington. The reporter stated that "president George Burley made his address to congress". I nearly drove over the hedge with laughter. Not sure which job is harder though. Suppose its hard to imagine the Scottish football team invading Iraq though.

This was taken in the hotel in Blackpool. I seem to remember him saying "I havent played this for a while" when asked to play pool.

He then went on to win 254 games on the trot. Shame we were playing winner stays on and not winner buys the pints!

Well we all made it home after an exciting weekend. JA managed to forget his match ticket, Chris lost his car keys and Bloomfield Road was a dump. But we did meet The Beat and enjoyed meeting a lot of Town fans at the North of England AGM.

Personally I believe I have never seen Town play so poorly as they did the first half. Things did improve after Sito was red carded for a stupid tackle. I ask myself, how can we play better with 10 men? Are our problems away from home pschcological? I thought the Seasiders were confident and enthusiastic and gave us a hard time. If I were a Blackpool fan I would have been gutted to come away with only one point.

Are you a long term Town fan? I was at the doctors this week. I had a pain down below. After a quick inspection the doctor advised me there was nothing that he could do for me. He has diagnosed me itfcitus. Apparently it not life threatening, but can cause anxiety, palpitations, sweats, anger and costs a few quid. Be careful. Grahams training progress

As you may or not know, Graham and John were given the chance to fly the plane to England next month. Apparently the price of the ticket has something to do with it.

Well lads I bring you the news that Graham was kicked of pilot training for talkin *hite. However I am glad to say he was accepted to attend trolly dolly traing school and has been enjoying himself. We are all looking forward to seing him in his new uniform.

We have been fortunate to get these photos from some his lessons. Keep up the good work Graham. Drinks or snacks sir?????
